Interlocking Driveways in the GTA

Vehicle-rated paver driveways on a 10 to 12 inch base, plus borders and aprons for asphalt driveways.

An interlock driveway is the single biggest curb-appeal upgrade a GTA home can get, and a properly built one outlasts asphalt. We build full driveways, and we also add paver borders, aprons and walkway tie-ins to existing asphalt.

The base is where the money goes

Driveways carry cars, so we excavate deeper: 10 to 12 inches of compacted Granular A in 3-inch lifts, with woven geotextile fabric under the base on the clay soils common in Vaughan, Markham and Richmond Hill. Pavers are 70 to 80 mm vehicular grade, laid in a herringbone pattern which resists tire shear.

Borders and aprons for asphalt driveways

If a full paver driveway is not in the budget, a 12 to 18 inch paver border on each side, a paver apron at the garage, and a matching front walk give you most of the look at a fraction of the cost. It is our most popular driveway upgrade.

Interlock Driveways FAQ

Will an interlock driveway shift under cars?

Not when the base is built right. Failures come from thin, uncompacted bases. Our driveways use vehicular-grade pavers on a 10 to 12 inch compacted base with an edge restraint.

Do you need to remove the asphalt first?

For a full paver driveway, yes; asphalt cannot be the base. For borders and aprons we saw-cut the asphalt and build the paver section beside it.
