What drives the price
Paver choice. A standard 60 mm paver from Unilock or Permacon sits at the low end. Large-format slabs, natural stone and porcelain sit at the top. We bring samples to the estimate so you can see and price the difference.
Access. If a mini-excavator and a skid steer can reach the work area, excavation and base delivery are fast. If everything has to go through a 36-inch gate by wheelbarrow, it adds a day or two of labour. Downtown Toronto lots are usually the hard case; Vaughan and Mississauga backyards the easy one.
What is there now. Removing a concrete walk or an old asphalt driveway adds roughly $3 per square foot for breaking and disposal. Bare lawn is the cheapest starting point.
Grade. A yard that drops 3 feet needs a retaining wall and steps, which are priced separately by face area and per step.
Base depth. Driveways need 10 to 12 inches of compacted base; patios and walks 6 to 8. More base means more excavation, more material and more disposal, which is why driveways cost more per square foot than patios.
Extras. Borders, inlays, seating walls, lighting conduit, gas-line rough-ins for a grill or fire table, and 3D design. All optional, all quoted line by line.

Why not the cheapest quote?
Every spring we re-level patios that were installed three or four years ago for $18 a square foot. They failed because the base was two inches of gravel on topsoil. Redoing it costs more than doing it right the first time. Our price includes the base depth, the geotextile, the compaction and the edge restraint that the cheap quote leaves out, and it comes with a 2-year workmanship warranty on every installation.

Why is the range $25 to $40 and not one number?
Paver choice is the biggest swing (a basic paver vs a premium large-format slab), then access (can a machine reach the yard), grade, and whether old concrete has to come out. The estimate turns the range into one number.
Do you charge for the estimate?

Is there a minimum project size?
Our minimum is $2,500. Small repairs start at $650.
How do I pay?
